IU McKinney Ranked Among Best Regional Law Schools by Lawyers of Color
04/02/2019
The nonprofit Lawyers of Color has released its annual Black Student's Guide to Law Schools and Firms for 2019, and IU McKinney is ranked among the Best Regional Law Schools in the Midwest Category. (IU McKinney's ranking is mentioned on page 29.)
"I am very pleased that the law school's efforts to ensure a diverse and inclusive climate are being recognized by others across the country," said IU McKinney Dean Andrew R. Klein.
The organization is dedicated to promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities. This is the second time that IU McKinney has been named to the guide; the first was in 2014. IU McKinney made the list for the Midwest with law schools from Ohio, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Criteria considered in the ranking included bar passage, juris doctor's awarded to Black students, and the number of federal clerkships, among others. Schools in the regional ranking were examined closely for the number of juris doctor degrees awarded to Black graduates, and the cost of tuition for residents.
