Cohen Sports and Entertainment Law Lecture Focuses on Sports Agency
04/11/2019
The Alan and Linda Cohen Family Foundation Sports and Entertainment Law Lecture focused on "Show Me the Money: Legal Aspects of Sports Agency," during the third annual event. The proceedings took place on April 9 in the Wynne Courtroom at Inlow Hall.
Panelists opened the floor to questions from participants, and painted a realistic picture of what their working lives are like as they advocate for their clients. The day-to-day life of a sports agent is a far cry from the popular film, Jerry Maguire. Jason Belzer is the founder and president of GAME, Inc., an agency that specializes in career management and marketing of coaches and the creation of collegiate sports events. Darren Heitner built his own law firm, Heitner Legal, in June 2014 after working in private practice. Alexa Stabler founded Stabler Sports to help athletes and their families build better lives. She is the daughter of Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame quarterback Ken Stabler.
The event was made possible through the Alan and Linda Cohen Family foundation Sports and Entertainment Law Fund. The fund was established in 2011 by Alan H., ’73, and Linda M. Cohen, and their daughter, Lauren Cohen Emundson, ’05.
