Professor Santana Presents at Smith College

Professor Stella Emery Santana was invited to take part in two lectures at Smith College in Northampton , Massachusetts, in late March.
Professor Santana spoke at the Spring 2019 Lecture Series titled Brazilian Nature-Cultures: Environment and Environmentalisms, Past and Future. Her topic for this event, which took place on March 26, was "Legal Frameworks for Environmental Protection in Brazil: From the 1988 Constitution to the Age of Bolsonaro."
The following day, Professor Santana discussed environmental disasters in Brazil during Smith Professor Malcolm McNee's advanced Portuguese class.

Professor Santana has been a visiting professor at IU McKinney since 2017, teaching a seminar in Environmental Law and Policy, and a course in International Environmental Law. She has been doing research on Ocean Law and Water Law while at the law school. She will return to teaching at her home university, FAESA, in Vitoria, Brazil, in Summer 2019.
