Professor Santana and LL.M. Student Daniel Pereira Present on Sustainable Development

Professor Stella Emery Santana and Master of Laws student Daniel Pereira presented via Skype during an international conference that took place in Cologne, Germany, on April 6.
The event, titled "Globalization of Environmental Law and the Role of Developing Countries Towards Sustainable Development," was presented by the European Society of International Law Interest Group on International Environmental Law, and the American Society of International Law Interest Group on Intellectual Property Law.
Professor Santana and Pereira discussed "Environmental Hazards in Prisons and Human Rights Violations: A Case Study of Presidio Central Prison, Brazil." They presented the research Pereira had been working on under Professor Santana's supervision. Pereira is a state judge in Brazil. He took part in an International Student Speaker Series event in October 2018 at IU McKinney, and a video conference in November 2018.

Professor Santana has been a visiting professor at IU McKinney since 2017, teaching a seminar in Environmental Law and Policy, and a course in International Environmental Law. She has been doing research on Ocean Law and Water Law while at the law school. She will return to teaching at her home university, FAESA, in Vitoria, Brazil, in Summer 2019.
