Outstanding Clinic Students Honored at IU McKinney
04/30/2019
The law clinic faculty and staff at IU McKinney gathered to honor two students with the Outstand Clinic Student awards for 2019. The event took place on April 30 in the Faculty Lounge at Inlow Hall.
Melanie Heniff was recognized for her work in the Child Advocacy Clinic. She is a physician, and lent her expertise to cases when needed by her clients, the clinic professors said. In the photo at right is Carey Wong, '02, Heniff, and Nicole Goodson. Wong and Goodson teach as adjunct faculty in the Child Advocacy Clinic.
Stephen Deeg was honored for his work in the Civil Practice Clinic. Deeg found a client he wanted to help; a custodian at a place where a family member works needed help with a landlord-tenant case. Professor Carrie Hagan said that Deeg "hit it out of the park" in the case. He also helped organize three rooms at the recent Re-Entry Fair for students to work on expungement cases, and arranged for the Marion County Clerk's Office to be on site during that event. In the photo at right, from left, are Deeg and Professor Hagan.
