Doctor of Juridical Science student Perfecto Caparas, LL.M. ’05, traveled to the University of British Columbia (UBC) to give a presentation during the 23rd UBC Interdisciplinary Legal Studies Graduate Conference. The event took place at the Peter A. Allard School of Law in Vancouver, British Columbia, May 1 and 2.
Caparas’ presentation was titled "Spiritualized International Human Rights Developmental Law Quantum Praxis – A New Paradigm for a Rights-Based Approach to Human Rights Realization, Democratization and the Rule of International Human Rights Law." Caparas explained his paradigmatic framework unifying principles of sustainable development, international human rights law, developmental legal advocacy, quantum physics, spirituality, and praxis. He discussed how this paradigm can help achieve, in Jose Diokno's words, a “revolution through law.” With the theme Innovation in Law and Policy, scholars and faculty from 20 universities in six countries took part in the conference.
