There are a number of familiar faces on the InStyle list of women who are "leading the way toward a better world," as the magazine said. But one in particular is well known to Indianapolis residents and IU McKinney alumni alike: Martha Hoover, '80. Hoover is among the publication's list of The Badass 50.
Hoover comes in on the list at number 34. Noting her former career as a sex crimes prosecutor, Hoover is a pioneer in the farm-to-table food movement. Hoover is an acclaimed entrepreneur and restaurateur who is the founder and president of Patachou, Inc., Her collection of restaurants includes Café Patachou, Petite Chou Bistro, Napolese Pizzeria, Public Greens Urban Kitchen, and Bar One Fourteen. She created The Patachou Foundation in 2013 to feed healthy meals to food insecure children in Indianapolis. To date, the foundation has served over 100,000 such meals to children who live with pervasive food insecurity. A member of the IU McKinney Board of Visitors, she delivered the 2019 commencement address for IU McKinney graduates.
