Professor 'Arafa, S.J.D. '13, Delivers Lecture at IU McKinney

The International Law Society at IU McKinney hosted Professor Mohamed 'Arafa, S.J.D. '13, for a lecture at IU McKinney. The discussion took place in the Wynne Courtroom at Inlow Hall on October 16.
Professor 'Arafa's topic was "Human Rights under the Umbrella of Islamic Criminal Justice: Perplexing and beyond the Zero-Sum Game." His discussion also encompassed the subject of the book he organized, titled "The New Human Rights Agenda: Loud Voices from the Global Periphery." It was published by Cirkula in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2019.
Professor 'Arafa is an Assistant Professor of Law at Alexandria University School of Law in Egypt (on a sabbatical). In 2018-2019, he was a Visiting Scholar and Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School, where he taught Comparative Middle Eastern Law. He will return to Cornell in 2020 to teach the course. He is teaching Islamic Law and Comparative Middle Eastern Law as a Visiting Adjunct Professor of Law at IU McKinney during the Fall 2019 semester.
