Second Edition of Professor Adams' Book Recently Published
02/10/2020
The second edition of Professor Cynthia Adams' book, A Practical Guide to Drafting Contracts, was recently published by Wolters Kluwer-Aspen. Professor Adams, '83, is a co-author on the work with Peter Cramer, a linguist and recently retired Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs at Washington University School of Law.
The pair discovered with the first edition of the work that in addition to the text being widely read by foreign-trained lawyers and international law students, as they had intended, the text was also being successfully used in mainstream law school courses. For this reason, they retitled the second edition and added more text and exercises geared toward American law students and lawyers, while continuing to include text and exercises specifically written for students for whom English is a second language. The first edition, Drafting Contracts in Legal English, was published in 2013.
Professor Adams was recently elected to the Executive Committee of the Business Law Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Prior to joining the law school faculty, she practiced law with an Indianapolis firm, specializing in general corporate law, acquisitions and mergers, commercial loans, and trusts and estates. At IU McKinney, she teaches contract drafting, negotiations, legal analysis and communication, integrated contracts, civil procedure, trusts and estates, and legal process.
