Emily Benfer Offers Advice to Prevent Evictions in 'New York Times' Article

A New York Times article on help that tenants may seek to avoid evictions refers to a spreadsheet compiled by Emily Benfer, ’05.
Federal protections aimed at keeping people in their homes during quarantine in response to the COVID-19 pandemic are set to expire if nothing is done to extend them. State and local protections for renters who may have lost jobs in the pandemic are spotty. The spreadsheet Benfer compiled, which is available to the public, provides the status of evictions by state and other pertinent information.
Benfer is a visiting professor at Wake Forest University School of Law, where she is developing a medical-legal partnership and health justice curriculum.
