Professor Magliocca Discusses Presidential Election on WISH TV
11/09/2020
Professor Gerard Magliocca joined two other Indiana University experts for a discussion on the outcome of the presidential election in the United States. The discussion was part of a story on Indianapolis television news station WISH.
The talk ranged from the level of anger on both sides of the political spectrum to possible changes to voting. Professor Magliocca said he was surprised by the high level of voter turnout. Some states allowed mail-in ballots to be counted early.
“Once the pandemic is over, perhaps people will think we don’t need to make any changes,” Professor Magliocca said. “I suppose one thing you could look at is that Florida, this time, has done a really good job of counting their votes and doing it very quickly.”
Professor Magliocca, a well-known constitutional law scholar, is the Samuel R. Rosen Professor of Law at IU McKinney. He is the author of four books, the latest of which, The Heart of the Constitution: How the Bill of Rights Became the Bill of Rights, was published by Oxford University Press in 2018. He also is the author of over 20 articles on constitutional law and intellectual property. He was named to the 2019-2020 class of fellows for the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon.
