Professor Magliocca Discusses Election Lawsuits with Washington, D.C., Television News
11/11/2020
Professor Gerard Magliocca discussed the lawsuits filed in state courts alleging voter fraud and election irregularities with a television news station in Washington, D.C. The suits have been filed in battleground states.
Thus far, the suits have not alleged voter fraud, the news story said. Instead, the suits allege there were irregularities and that Republican election observers were kept from closely monitoring the vote count.
"When you have election contests in very close races, usually you're talking about a couple hundred votes or maybe a thousand dividing the candidates. But not tens of thousands," Professor Magliocca said in the story. "There's just no precedent for a contest like that succeeding."
Professor Magliocca, a well-known constitutional law scholar, is the Samuel R. Rosen Professor of Law at IU McKinney. He is the author of four books, the latest of which, The Heart of the Constitution: How the Bill of Rights Became the Bill of Rights, was published by Oxford University Press in 2018. He also is the author of over 20 articles on constitutional law and intellectual property. He was named to the 2019-2020 class of fellows for the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon.
