Seeking Alumni Mentors for Pathway to Law Program
11/18/2020
We need your help mentoring undergraduate students interested in law school as part of our Pathway to Law program. If you are interested in serving as a mentor, please register below and Professor Erin Engels, '99, will contact you with more information about the mentor program.
The Pathway to Law program is designed for undergraduate students who are underrepresented in law school. Students complete a sequence of four online classes designed to prepare them for law school. Courses are taught by McKinney law faculty and Professor Engels. Students are also paired with an attorney mentor and a law student mentor to further prepare them for law school and to expose them to the legal profession.
We would like for alumni mentors to commit to mentoring students during their two year time in the program. You may be assigned up to 2 mentees. We hope attorney mentors will meet with their Pathway students a minimum of twice per semester. Alumni are welcome to meet with their assigned students together or individually and can meet by Zoom. There may also be opportunities for alumni to assist Pathway students in a variety of contexts. For example, there will be course components that require students to engage in exercises on professional development or the legal profession where alumni participation fits naturally.
