Achim Förster, LL.M. ’06, a professor at the University of Applied Sciences Wuerzburg-Schweinfurt (FHWS) in Germany, has been honored with one of the Bavarian Sate Ministry of Sciences and Arts awards for outstanding teaching. Professor Förster, Ph.D., has been a member of the faculty of Applied Social Sciences since 2015 and teaches in the areas of copyright law, media law and media policy. Before being appointed professor, he worked as a public prosecutor in Schweinfurt as well as a judge at the district court of Bad Neustadt an der Saale and the regional court of Schweinfurt.
The nomination for the award was based on the recommendation of the Social Work Student Council. Professor Förster inspires students with enthusiasm for his subject and conveys even complex content in a precise, structured and entertaining manner. He also plays an important role in the internationalization of the university, for example through English-taught international courses, and plays a vital role in the further development of the university’s annual International Teaching Week. In additon, Professor Förster is "simply unbeatably likeable," students said in their nomination of him for the honor.
Since 2008, the Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences and Arts has been awarding the prize for outstanding teaching at Bavarian universities of applied sciences. The award is presented every two years in the form of individual and project prizes and is based on a comprehensive assessment by an eight-member jury consisting of three non-Bavarian university didactics specialists, one representative of the State Ministry, two students, and the managing board of the Centre for University Didactics Ingolstadt.
