Tiffany Costley Honored by IndyBar for Pro Bono Work
12/04/2020
IU McKinney 3L Tiffany Costley was honored by the Indianapolis Bar Association for her pro bono work. She received the IndyBar 2020 Law Student Pro Bono Award during the organizations virtual recognition celebration which took place December 3.
Costley serves as president of the IU Student Outreach Clinic Legal Division. “One of the first things I did at the law school was volunteer for the clinic, and I just loved it. I knew right away I wanted to do something like that in my career if possible,” Costley said. “I liked how there was always a new issue to help someone try and solve and no matter what you felt like you were making a difference, even if it was just listening to someone.”
While the outreach clinic’s in-person work has been put on hold because of the pandemic, Costley has helped connect students to pro bono opportunities throughout the city. She also has helped with IndyBar’s handbook project with the Coalition for Homelessness and Intervention Project, also known as CHIP. The handbook is a collection of resources for people who are homeless or people who work with homeless individuals. Costley’s nominators described her as an “outgoing and passionate individual who truly cares about the people in the Indianapolis and McKinney community and serves as a wonderful example of leadership.”
Costley currently works at the Office of the Attorney General and said she would like to pursue public service after she completes her legal education.
