IU McKinney Class of 2021 to Celebrate Twice
04/12/2021
Members of the IU McKinney Law Class of 2021 have two opportunities to commemorate graduating from law school: attend the in-person IUPUI Campus Commencement on May 15 and take part in IU McKinney’s Graduation Virtual Recognition on May 19.
Graduating IU McKinney students selected four of their classmates for the honor of addressing their peers, and seven members of the faculty to serve as hooders.
Representing the Master of Laws students is Joyce Almeida Ponce. Ponce attended law school at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil. Ponce studied the International Human Rights Law track for her LL.M. and was offered an internship at the Indiana Supreme Court. She participated in the International Student Speaker Series in March 2021, where she talked about the Constitutional Court of Ecuador and its decision on same-sex marriage.
Representing the graduating Master of Jurisprudence students is Carolyn M. Dawson. Dawson has over 20 years of experience working in public service for state government, non-profit organizations, and in academic institutions. She is currently a Research Administrator in grants and contracts at the Regenstrief Institute, Inc., a non-profit support organization of the Indiana University School of Medicine and other IUPUI schools.
Bre Robinson was chosen to represent the Doctor of Jurisprudence part-time, evening division students. She served as the Student Bar Association president (2020-2021) and vice president of the evening division (2019-2020). Robinson also served on the Indiana Law Review Volume 54 Executive Board as the symposium editor, and on the Robert H. Staton Intramural Moot Court Board as an associate justice for competition management.
Sundeep Singh was chosen to represent the Doctor of Jurisprudence full-time, day division students. Singh completed his law degree in December 2020, where he also received a graduate certificate in Criminal Law. He served as chief justice of the Moot Court Society and vice president of the Asian Law Students Association. He also was a mentor-advocate in the REACH program and an IU McKinney student ambassador.
