Jeremy Morris, '14 Elected to IU Board of Trustees

Jeremy Morris, ’14, has been elected to the IU Board of Trustees, where he will serve a three-year term. Morris is Assistant U.S. Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana, where he has served since November 2018. In addition, he teaches Criminal Procedure: Investigation as an adjunct professor and supervises the Prosecutor’s Office Externship: Ethics in Prosecution at IU McKinney. He previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in Atlanta, Georgia.
“I am beyond honored and humbled to have been elected to the Indiana University Board of Trustees,” Morris said. “As a Black male, first-generation, three-time graduate of Indiana University, I know first-hand the prevailing issues impacting our students and remain committed throughout my tenure as Trustee to ensure students are at the heart of every decision. The diversity of the university will remain one of my main missions. I am encouraged by IU’s ongoing efforts to increase diversity and see an opportunity to invest more resources to ensure our institution is more equitable and inclusive space for students, faculty, administration, staff, and alumni. I am ready to work and look forward to my service on the board!”
Morris received a Bachelor of Arts in African American & African Diaspora Studies, and a Master of Science in Higher Education & Student Affairs Administration from IU Bloomington. He graduated from IU McKinney in 2014 and was a member of the Order of the Barristers – Moot Court Society, the Black Law Students Association Academic Affairs Committee, and was a Sidley Austin Prelaw Scholar.
Morris serves as chair of the board for Iibada Dance Company, a non-profit that promotes education, cultural enrichment, discipline, positive self-esteem, and a safe place for children to express themselves through dance. He also servs as a volunteer for Schools on Wheels Indianapolis, which provides one-on-one tutoring and educational advocacy for children impacted by homelessness. Morris was a winner in the Government category in the Best and Brightest Junior Achievement honors program in March 2020.
