Incoming 1Ls, Alumni, and Faculty Take Part in Call to the Profession

The Call to the Profession ceremony capped the orientation experience for IU McKinney’s latest class of first-year law students. The event took place in the courtyard at Inlow Hall on August 13.
Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson, ’83, presided over the oath that incoming students take before they begin their legal studies. In the photo at left, students are shown reciting the oath. Judge Magnus-Stinson, of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana Indianapolis Division, also shared a few words of wisdom with the new 1Ls.
Jimmie McMillian, ’06, spoke to the students about his career path and his role as Senior Corporate Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer for Penske Entertainment, which includes the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, NTT INDYCAR Series, and IMS Productions. McMillian also is the current president of the Indianapolis Bar Association, and is president of 317 Ryders MC, one of the largest motorcycle clubs in the state.
