Limited Waiver Available for Student Borrowers

The Department of Education has recently announced a limited waiver that allows past student borrowers to count payments from all federal loan programs or repayment plans toward forgiveness. Borrowers can learn more about the October 6 announcement (including the new rules and next steps needed to pursue forgiveness) on Federal Student Aid’s announcement section.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Help Tool, where borrowers can complete the PSLF Form, is undergoing updates to include Federal Family Education Loan Program and Perkins Loans over the upcoming months. Borrowers are still able to request employment certification and loan consolidation through the help tool while these updates are implemented.
