Professor Hagan Publishes Chapter in Latest Feminist Judgments Book
12/09/2021
IU McKinney Professor Carrie Hagan has published a chapter in the latest book published as part of the U.S. Feminist Judgments Project. The book, “Feminist Judgments: Rewritten Property Opinions,” was published in October 2021 by Cambridge University Press.
The chapter addresses the opinion in Taylor v. Canterbury, and Professor Hagan and her co-author, Professor Diane Klein, discuss whether a special right such as survivorship should exist. It critiques the connection between that right and heterosexually married status. The book is part of the United States Feminist Judgments Projects. In the project, rewritten opinions must use the facts and precedent of the original but bring to the judging process a feminist perspective that takes into account race, class, gender, disability, and other status groups historically marginalized by law.
Professor Hagan is a clinical professor of law at IU McKinney where she directs the Civil Practice Clinic.
