Charles (Chuck) Spevacek, ’80, has been named a 2021 Minnesota ICON. He was among the honorees recognized at an event that took place on December 9.

The Minnesota ICON awards recognize individuals in law and business who have demonstrated proven success throughout lengthy and accomplished careers. Honorees are leaders in their fields who have been active in their communities and in mentoring the next generation. The honors are bestowed by Minnesota Finance & Commerce and Minnesota Lawyer.

Spevacek is a senior partner with Meagher & Geer, P.L.L.P., where his practice services the insurance industry. He has served as national coordinating coverage counsel for his clients on matters involving environmental losses, cyber-liability, claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and, most recently, COVID-19 business interruption losses.

Spevacek was named in both 2021 and 2016 by The Best Lawyers in America as its Minneapolis Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions - Defendants "Lawyer of the Year." He was also named as its 2019 and 2014 Minneapolis Insurance Law "Lawyer of the Year." He has twice been recognized by Minnesota Lawyer as an "Attorney of the Year" in 2013 and 2006. He was chosen as one of Minnesota's 10 best appellate lawyers and has been recognized since 2003 as a Minnesota Super Lawyer, earning Top 100 distinction in 15 of those years. Since 2013, he has been identified by Chambers USA as one of America's Leading Litigation Lawyers for Business. Spevacek is a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel, a Senior Fellow of Litigation Counsel of America, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a Charter Member of the Insurance Litigation Institute of America. He serves on the board of directors of Ridgeview Hospital Foundation and is a past chair. He has served on the board of directors of the Purdue Alumni Association and of Center of the American Experiment (also as a past chair).
