Law School at IU McKinney Fits Chitra Ram's Unique Skill Set
03/11/2022
Chitra Ram set her sights on law school after completing her undergraduate studies at Purdue University, where she earned a degree in Biological Engineering with a concentration in Cellular and Biomolecular Engineering, as well as a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. “I felt like law school was a good fit for my mixed set of skills,” Ram said. “And the law school was in my home state.” She is originally from Pune, India and lives in Columbus, Indiana.
Ram has been involved in two student organizations since the beginning of her law school career: the Asian Law Students Association and the Intellectual Property Student Association. She currently serves as President of both groups for the 2021- ‘22 academic year. She is presently in her third year at law school and plans to graduate from the JD program in May with a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law.
She has been involved with the Intellectual Property Law Clinic since its creation over a year ago. In addition, Ram has worked as a legal programs intern for New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) and as a summer law clerk with Mayer Brown LLP. Both roles focused on intellectual property law and, specifically, life sciences patent work.
After completing her legal education, Ram plans to do intellectual property litigation and transactional work with Mayer Brown LLP in Chicago.
