IU McKinney Professor Nedeff Discusses Delayed Death Case
03/30/2022
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has completed its homicide investigation surrounding the death of a 34-year-old man who died, possibly from the injuries he suffered as a baby. The Marion County Prosecutor is still investigating, and the county coroner’s office has yet to determine an exact cause of death. Professor Novella Nedeff discussed the case for a story on WTHR.
The Indiana Supreme Court has never ruled on a case like this, Professor Nedeff said in the story. Delayed death is typically the exception to the double jeopardy rule at the United States Supreme Court level, and the state’s double jeopardy laws are usually more strict, she said in the story.
Professor Nedeff is a clinical professor of law and teaches in the Criminal Defense Clinic.
