IU McKinney Dean Karen E. Bravo is a guest on the IBJ podcast, The Freedom Forum, which is hosted by Angela Freeman, ’12. Freeman began the podcast in summer 2021.

Dean Bravo was appointed dean of the law school in summer 2020, the first woman of color to serve in the role. She joined the law school faculty in 2004 and has served several leadership roles, while also developing specialties in human trafficking and international affairs. Since becoming dean, she has made increasing equity and inclusion for students, professors, and administrators at the law school and IUPUI one of her top priorities. During the episode, Dean Bravo and Freeman discuss voting rights, human trafficking, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Freeman is a member of Barnes & Thornburg’s Intellectual Property Department and Life Sciences practice group, where she is instrumental in procuring IP rights in the U.S. and worldwide for client inventions. She is the first Black president of the not-for-profit Women & Hi Tech.
