Professor Tarkington to Present at Legal Ethics Conference

IU McKinney Professor Margaret Tarkington will present at the sixth annual Legal Ethics Conference. The event will take place May 6 at California Western School of Law. The event focuses on the relationship between legal ethics and the public interest by examining the role of lawyers representing the government and government officials.
Professor Tarkington will present during a panel discussion that will focus on the ethical obligations of lawyers, including prosecutors, to fulfil the demand of society. She will present on the topic: “The Role of Attorney Speech and Advocacy in the Subversion and Protection of Constitutional Governance.”
Professor Tarkington is a noted expert in this area. Her book, Voice of Justice: Reclaiming the First Amendment Rights of Lawyers, was published in 2018. She is a dean’s fellow and co-director of the J.D. Program and Evaluation Assessment at IU McKinney, where she teaches professional responsibility, civil procedure, and federal courts.
