Professor Magliocca to Present during New York City Bar Event
05/24/2022
IU McKinney Professor Gerard Magliocca will present during a virtual event May 25 for the New York City Bar. The topic is “Ensuring Accountability for Political Violence: Lessons from January 6.”
The event will feature experts knowledgeable in three different facets of legal accountability for the attempted violent efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election: criminal liability; civil liability for damages caused by their actions; and disqualification from entitlement to seek or hold public office. Professor Magliocca has been working with voters who have brought challenges to elected officials seeking re-election on the grounds participation in the January 6, 2021, insurrection prohibits them seeking to be returned to office.
Professor Magliocca is a Samuel R. Rosen Professor of Law at IU McKinney and a nationally known expert in constitutional law. He is the author of five books, the latest of which, Washington’s Heir: The Life of Bushrod Washington, was published by Oxford University Press in early 2022. He also is the author of over 20 articles on constitutional law and intellectual property.
