S.J.D. Candidate Presents on 'Holistic Human Rights' at AU Washington College of Law
06/02/2022
Doctor of Juridical Science candidate Perfecto Caparas, LL.M., ’05, discussed his soul-principled definition of “holistic human rights” during the 2022 National S.J.D. Roundtable held recently at the American University Washington College of Law.
Caparas described holistic human rights as “the totality of humans’ economic, social, cultural, civil, political, soul-spiritual, environmental, and sustainable developmental rights.”
Quoting author Master Choa Kok Sui, Caparas described the soul as “pure energy with consciousness.” The soul can be proven by means of Dr. Amit Goswami’s quantum physics principles of non-locality, tangled hierarchy, and discontinuity, Caparas said. Contrary to traditional science’s notion that “matter is the ground of being,” Goswami theorized that “consciousness is the ground of being.”
Caparas coined Spiritualized International Human Rights Developmental Law (SIHRD Law) Quantum Praxis as his rights-based paradigmatic framework to achieve democratization and people empowerment. SIHRD Law Quantum Praxis, he said, is rooted on this holistic human rights concept. SIHRD Law Quantum Praxis leaders, he added, will benefit from Master Choa Kok Sui’s energetic healing and meditation techniques. Those techniques need to be combined with character-building and the observance of the Golden Rule. This way, he said, human rights leaders will not fall prey to the “mirroring the enemy” phenomenon as described by Paulo Freire, author of “Pedagogy of the Oppressed.”
Caparas’ dissertation is titled “Combatting Atrocity Crimes and Climate Emergency: Holistic Human Rights for A Spiritualized International Human Rights Developmental Law (SIHRD Law) Quantum Praxis.” SIHRD Law Quantum Praxis, he explained, empowers communities to protect the environment and promote human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.
Caparas taught International Law and Institutions at the National University of the Union of Myanmar in spring 2022.
