Julie Roe Lach, '04, Named Nike Executive of the Year

Horizon League Commissioner Julie Roe Lach, J.D. ’04, has been named a Women Leaders in College Sports Conference/Organization Nike Executive of the Year.
Roe Lach is in her third year as Commissioner, after being named the league's sixth commissioner in January 2021. She is in her ninth year overall with the Horizon League, joining as deputy commissioner in August 2014. Under her direction and guidance, the Horizon League established a diversity, equity and inclusion group to develop best practices to improve diversity and inclusion in members’ administrative and head coaching positions. This group seeks to bring about meaningful and long-standing change that will affect the future of the league. At the 2022 Horizon League Basketball Championships, the league hosted the inaugural International Women’s Day Event for Indy’s women leaders and allies. Roe Lach previously served on the board of WeCOACH, an organization dedicated to the recruitment, advancement, and retention of women coaches. Roe Lach currently serves on the NCAA Women’s Basketball Oversight Committee, the Indiana Sports Corporation Board of Directors, and this past year co-chaired the CCA Constitutional Committee Working Group.
Roe Lach graduated cum laude from IU McKinney Law in 2004 and is an active member of the Indiana bar. She served on the IU McKinney School of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2001-2006 and was president for one term. Roe Lach joined the law school's Board of Visitors in 2015. She received the law school’s Outstanding Alumna of the Year award in June 2022.
