Upcoming Indiana Health Law Review Symposium Focuses on Mental Health

Mental health and the legal system are the focus of the Indiana Health Law Review Symposium on Friday, October 21 at the IU McKinney School of Law.
Two keynote speakers and four panel discussions will bring legal scholars and practitioners to IU McKinney during the symposium, which begins at 8:15 a.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m.
Among the speakers and panel topics:
- A morning keynote address, “Mental Health Parity: Exploring the Promising Potential of This Seemingly Intuitive but Exasperating to Implement Law,” presented by Tara Adams Ragone, assistant professor in Seton Hall Law’s Center for Health & Pharmaceutical Law;
- an afternoon keynote address, “Force and Treatment: Lessons for the Law from Lived Experience,” presented by Professor Elyn Saks, Orrin B. Evans Distinguished Professor of Law and professor of law, psychology and psychiatry and the behavioral sciences at University of Southern California Gould School of Law;
- two morning panels, “Mental Health Accommodations and Discrimination” and “Mental Health Treatment Access;”
- two afternoon panels, “Mental Health Agency and Decision Making,” and “Lawyer Wellbeing.”
