Marcus McGhee, JD '16; LLM '22, Takes Post with Homeland Security

Marcus McGhee, J.D. ’16; LL.M. ’22, has begun a new post with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office in Washington, D.C., where he will serve as an ethics attorney.
In this new role, McGhee will work with the office of the principal legal advisor’s ethics unit, focusing on attorney professional responsibility issues. He will assist with ethics training and instituting new procedures for evaluating complaints and adjudicating misconduct proceedings when the attorneys prosecuting immigration cases violate ethics rules or federal law.
Prior to this new position, McGhee served as staff attorney/pro se law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. A dedicated of the IU McKinney family, McGhee is on the advisory board for the ABA’s Pathways to the Law Program at the law school. He began working with the program in its infancy in 2017, began serving as a mentor in 2018, and became an advisory board member the following year. An article McGhee wrote about the program was published in the ABA Journal. McGhee was named to IUPUI Elite 50 in spring 2022. The program honors graduate and professional students on the campus.
