Two IU McKinney Alumnae Named to Women of Influence Class for 2022
10/31/2022
Two IU McKinney alumnae were named to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Women of Influence class for 2022: Monica Foster and Lawren Mills.
Monica Foster, J.D. ’83, is executive director of Indiana Federal Community Defenders, Inc.
“I try really hard to lead by example and to make myself available to younger folks in the profession,” she said in the article announcing the honorees. “I feel very strongly that, if one can learn from the mistakes of others, and I have made many mistakes, it helps younger people get a leg up.”
Lawren Mills, J.D. ’04, is partner and chair of the public affairs group at Ice Miller.
“I don’t consider myself a mentor or influencer; I consider myself a colleague and friend,” she said in the article. “I learn and am mentored by others just as much as the other way around.”
Indiana University President Pamela Whitten also was named to the 2022 class of Women of Influence and delivered the keynote address at the event October 27 where the honorees were announced.
“To the extent that you can, never say ‘no’ to opportunities because some of them will lead to amazing experiences in your life,” President Whitten said in the article. “You can always sleep later.”
