Women's Caucus Auction Benefits Center for Victim and Human Rights

The 45th annual Women’s Caucus auction took place at Inlow Hall on February 23. Guests took their chances with bidding on the many desirable items during the silent auction portion of the event, and there was lively bidding on faculty donated excursions during the live auction, which always marks the end of the evening’s festivities.
The wildly successful event raised $15,000 for the Center for Victim and Human Rights. Raio Krishnayya, LL.M. ’11, (in the above photo, in the center) is executive director of the center, which he founded in 2008. The center provides comprehensive legal representation to victims of crime and human rights abuses who often lack the safety and resources to access available legal remedies.
Popular items up for bid during the auction included:
- a wine tasting with professors Jeff Cooper and Nicholas Georgakopoulos
- a hike through Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park with Professor Kristina Swanson and her dog, Trooper (In the photo at left, Professor Carrie Hagan, left, and Professor Hoffer, were lively auctioneers during the event.)
- an hour of Lego building with the sets of Dumbledore’s Office and the Hogwarts Hospital Wing with Ruth Lilly Law Library Director Miriam Murphy
- coffee and pastries with Professor Yvonne Dutton
- a discussion of international law opportunities abroad with Professor Frank Emmert
- homemade Italian pizza at the home of Professor Stephanie Hoffer
- dinner outside at a Mass Ave restaurant with professors Florence Wagman Roisman and Lahny Silva
- game night with professors Jackie McCloud and Ben Keele
- dinner with professors Lahny Silva and Joel Schumm
- a meal at Shapiro’s Deli with Professor Rob Katz
- cooking with Professor Carrie Hagan from Snoop Dog’s “From Crook to Cook” cookbook
a golf outing with Professor Allison Martin- an Indianapolis Indians game with Interim Chancellor Andy Klein
- an outing and exploration of the recreational, residential, and commercial uses of the former Fort Benjamin Harrison with Professor Frank Sullivan (In the photo at left, students enjoyed the antics during the annual auction.)
- a game night with Professor Jim Nehf
- lunch with Dean Karen Bravo
- paddleboarding or kayaking on Morse Reservoir with Professor Cynthia Baker
- wine and hors d’oeuvres with Professor Jennifer Drobac
- dinner party with Professor Aila Hoss and her dog, Neville Longbottom Hoss-Brewer
- a tour of Mass Ave architecture with Professor Lee Little.
In addition, adjunct professor Keenan Fennimore, J.D. ’12, offered chicken and biscuits during the final hour of an Indy 500 practice session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway; and adjunct professor Cari Lynn Sheehan, J.D. ’07, offered an outing to Speedway Indoor Karting.
