IU McKinney Student Writes for Intellectual Property Newsletter

Gabriele Brandt, a 3L at IU McKinney, has written an article for the Intellectual Property Network’s May 2023 newsletter. The piece for the Substantive Update in IP section provided insights into artificial intelligence inventorship and some of the trademark and copyright cases before the U.S. Supreme Court this term.
Pervin Taleyarkhan, J.D. ’13, encouraged Brandt to write the piece and it isn’t the first time she’s encouraged a law student to do so. While a student in April 2021, Christian Mercho, J.D. ‘22, wrote for the newsletter about social media platforms and the responsibility of online companies to police their content.
Taleyarkhan is legal counsel for Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She serves on the Board of Editors for the ABA Journal and is a Young Lawyer Fellow for the Section on Intellectual Property Law. She also serves as an assistant issue editor for Landslide, the publication for the ABA's Section of Intellectual Property Law. She was editor-in-chief of the Indiana Health Law Review while a student at IU McKinney.
