PreLaw Best Schools Rating Lists IU McKinney among Best Schools for Public Service

The magazine preLaw has rated the best law schools for public service and IU McKinney has been rated in the top 10 in two categories: government and criminal law.
IU McKinney was ranked 10th in the government category. The Program on Law and State Government, founded by Professor Cynthia Baker, sponsors a wide variety of externship placements within the executive and legislative branches of Indiana government. These placements include the Office of the Governor, Indiana Attorney General, Indiana State Police, Civil Rights Commission, and over 50 others. The program’s fellowship opportunities dates to 2000 and provides co-curricular opportunities for law students to study, research, an share their respective scholarship on critical legal issues facing state governments.
IU McKinney was ranked 8th in the criminal law category. The law school has several clinic opportunities that provide students an opportunity to experience what it is like to practice criminal law, including the Criminal Defense Clinic, the Re-Entry Assistance and Community Help Clinic, and the Wrongful Conviction Clinic, among others.
IU McKinney is routinely rated tops by preLaw in a variety of practice areas, including health law, human rights, and intellectual property, and more.
