Senator Todd Young, '06, Named Bayh-Lugar Government Leader of the Year by Indiana Chamber
09/12/2023
U.S. Senator Todd Young, J.D. ’06, has been named the Birch Bayh-Richard Lugar Government Leader of the Year by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. The chamber noted Senator Young’s willingness to work with leadership in both political parties to author and support the CHIPS and Science Act.
Signed into law last August, the act is aimed at boosting investment in domestic high-tech research and bringing semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S., curbing a reliance on China for such products.
“It’s humbling because both Senators Lugar and Bayh have earned such respect from Hoosiers and Americans, and even people outside of our country on account of their statesmanship and professionalism,” Senator Young said about the honor. “But it’s also, for me, a validation that the solutions-oriented approach I have taken to this role is still meaningful and important in our state.”
Senator Young will receive the honor at the Indiana Chamber’s 34th annual awards dinner on November 14 in downtown Indianapolis.
