IU McKinney Welcomes Two Visiting Professors

IU McKinney Law welcomes two visiting professors: Sarah Parks and Michael Smyth.
Sarah Parks joined IU McKinney School of Law in fall 2023 as a visiting clinical assistant professor teaching Legal Communication and Analysis. A 2017 graduate of the IU Maurer School of Law, she received a B.A. from Witchita State University. During law school she worked as a judicial extern in the Indiana Supreme Court, as a summer associate at the Indianapolis law firm Densborn Blachley LLP, as a law clerk to then U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly, and as a legal intern for the IU Office of the Vice President and General Counsel. After completing her legal education, she worked as an associate attorney for Densborn Blachley LLP, Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, and Quarles & Brady LLP. Parks serves on the executive committee of the Indianapolis Art Center board, is an elder and member of the operations committee and nominating committee at Second Presbyterian Church in Indiapaolis, and served on the president’s advisory council of the Children’s Organ Transplant Association.
Michael Smyth joined IU McKinney School of Law in fall 2023 as a visiting clinical assistant professor teaching Legal Communication and Analysis and Trial Practice. A 2020 graduate of the IU Maurer School of Law, he earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. He previously worked as a judicial clerk for Judge Peter R. Foley and Judge Elizabeth F. Tavitas, both on the bench of the Indiana Court of Appeals. While in law school he successfully argued a case in the Indiana Supreme Court as part of the IU Maurer Federal Habeas Clinic and served as a law clerk to Hon. Leanna K. Weissmann. Smyth is a member of the Indiana Bar since 2020 and also belongs to the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the Indiana State Bar Association’s Appellate and Small/Solo Practice Section.
