Tamara Rogers, a research and instructional services librarian at the Ruth Lilly Law Library at IU McKinney, is one of the recipients of the Wilma Gibbs Moore Scholarship. Rogers is earning a Master of Library Sciences degree through the IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering in Indianapolis.
Rogers earned her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law. She also holds a master’s in social work and a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Prior to joining the law library in October 2023, Rogers was the managing partner at Rogers Law Firm in Indianapolis practicing estate planning and elder law. She also served for five years as a juvenile magistrate judge in Marion Circuit Court.
Wilma Gibbs Moore was a leader in preserving and promoting African American history and culture in Indianapolis. Moore, who died in 2018, worked at Indiana University Libraries, Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, and had worked as the senior archivist of African American History at the Indiana History Center. Rogers has said she wants to utilize her degree to take on leadership roles in libraries and to continue Moore’s legacy.
