11/29/2023
Senior Acquisitions Assistant Jackie Cooper was awarded the Carol D. Nathan Staff Council Scholarship at the Chancellor’s Staff Recognition Ceremony on November 8.
Before joining the Ruth Lilly Law Library at IU McKinney School of Law, Cooper worked more than 4 years at the Carmel Clay Public Library in Carmel, Indiana. In her current position, she is responsible for ordering, cataloging, and processing library materials and monitoring the library budget. She received a Library Technical Assistant A.S. from Ivy Tech Community College.
Cooper serves the campus community and contributes to the growth and development of IUPUI by diligently working to provide students at the law school with the resources they need to further their education. She intends to obtain her Bachelor’s degree and then pursue her Master’s degree in Library Science, allowing her to become a cataloger and continue to serve students on campus by making information resources they need discoverable and searchable in the library’s catalog system.
The scholarship was established in honor of Carol D. Nathan, Dean of the Faculties (Retired), for her outstanding leadership at IUPUI and contributions to the IUPUI Staff Council.
Dr. Carol D. Nathan helped shape the growth and development of IUPUI through her roles in the campus’ central administration, by leading big projects, including a partnership with Ivy Tech and working to establish the IUPUI Staff Council and Senior Academy for retired faculty. She stood for development through perseverance, which is why this scholarship will be awarded to an individual seeking personal development through education.
The IUPUI Carol D. Nathan Staff Council Scholarship Award is sponsored by the IUPUI Staff Council and administered by the Staff Council Rewards and Recognition Committee in collaboration with the council's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
