02/06/2024
Students at IU McKinney School of Law have selected the 2024 recipients of the annual Cane Awards. The Cane Awards serve as a means for the students to show their appreciation for faculty and staff members who have gone above and beyond during each school year.
The Black Cane for most outstanding professor went to Professor Frank Sullivan, Jr., Professor of Practice at IU McKinney. This marks the third time he has won the Black Cane award. Professor Sullivan joined the faculty after 19 years of service as a Justice on the Indiana Supreme Court. He was named an Indiana University Bicentennial Professor in 2020. Professor Sullivan teaches Closely Held Business Organizations, Securities Regulation, and Advanced Sales.
The Red Cane, this year designated for the most outstanding adjunct professor, was presented to Scott Oliver, J.D. ‘16, a partner at the Indianapolis law firm Lewis & Kappes. A cum laude graduate of IU McKinney, he teaches Legal Communication and Analysis.
The white cane for most outstanding administrator was presented to Mary Morris, senior associate director in the Office of Student Affairs. A graduate of IU Maurer School of Law, Morris worked as an associate attorney at Ice Miller and at Delaney & Delaney before joining the staff at IU McKinney.
