Where did you study before coming to IU McKinney for your LL.M.?
My education was in India. And I will be graduating from IU McKinney School of Law in May 2024.
What led you to law school?
I have always been interested in legal studies. I have a passion for justice. And I am interested in legal complexities and have a desire to advocate for others. Finally, the potential for diverse career opportunities within the legal field was compelling to me.
Any lawyers in your family?
No, I am the one and only lawyer in my family.
What made you choose IU McKinney for your LL.M.? Which track did you choose?
After my marriage I came to United States. My husband is working for a software company in Indianapolis. So, I searched LL.M schools in Indiana and found IU McKinney School of Law. My track is American Law for Foreign Lawyers.
What has your experience been like as a student at IU McKinney?
It is a nice law school. I like the campus building. Especially the library. Overall, a very peaceful place. The professors are very kind and friendly. Every year the school conducts externships and pro bono fairs so students can learn about opportunities. It is very helpful to students.
Professor Cynthia Baker told us about your externship with the Indiana Horse Racing Commission. Please tell me a little about that experience, if you would.
My first externship was with the Indiana Horse Racing Commission. I participated in some meetings about cases, sometimes I went to horse racing tracks. I also learned about drug testing on winning horses. It was a great experience working with lawyers. These externships are very helpful for students.
What student groups have you been involved in?
I am involved in the Master of Laws Association. I serve as treasurer.
What are your career plans once you complete your LL.M. studies?
I want to take the bar exam in 2025, and I hope to gain legal experience at a company or law firm.
