Philip Aka Publishes Latest Book

Philip Aka, LL.M. ’08; S.J.D. ’16, has published his latest book, titled “Navigating the Tension Between Sovereignty and Self-Determination in Postcolonial Africa.” The work traces the intricacies of five self-determination struggles across key African states: Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Cameroon. It was published by Springer Link.
Previously, Aka served as a Fulbright specialist in Sierra Leone. There, he worked with the legal department at the Campaign for Human Rights and Development International in Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital.
Aka served as dean of the law faculty at the International University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2018 to 2020 and then taught as a visiting professor at Southern University School of Law in Carbondale, Illinois. In addition, he has completed six books:
