Judge Robyn Moberly Retires from U.S. Bankruptcy Court

The Honorable Robyn L. Moberly, J.D. ’78, has retired from the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana. A ceremony honoring her career took place June 7.
"I join with many IU McKinney alumni and friends in wishing Judge Moberly congratulations on her well-deserved retirement," said IU McKinney Dean Karen E. Bravo. "She has served the IU McKinney community with distinction and left an indelible mark on our school and on the legal profession."
Judge Moberly was sworn in as the first female judge of Indiana’s U.S. Bankruptcy Court in 2012. Prior to her appointment, she served as a general practitioner for 17 years, then as a judge for 16 years on the Superior Court bench in Indianapolis, where she presided over the major felony and civil courts.
Judge Moberly served a vital role in the legal community, having served as president of the Indiana Judges Association, president and board member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, board member of the Indiana Judicial Conference, and associate presiding judge of the Marion Superior Court.
A cum laude graduate of IU McKinney, Judge Moberly has been an active alumna. She has served as president of the IU McKinney School of Law Alumni Association, and as a member of the Board of Visitors for the IU McKinney School of Law. She received the Maynard K. Hine Medal in 2021 in recognition of her service to the IUPUI campus and its alumni programs.
