07/01/2024
IU McKinney Assistant Dean of External Affairs Elizabeth Allington has been named to the 10th cohort of IU Indianapolis’s Next Generation 2.0 leadership development program.
Assistant Dean Allington has led the Office of External Affairs since 2022. Prior to this role, she served as director of communications and creative services for 16 years. She joined the law school in 1996, working in the Office of Development. Before coming to the law school, she worked for the New York University Center for European Studies and taught English in France.
The cohort will begin with an orientation in August and then start a nine-month curriculum in September that focuses on developing leadership skills and understanding contemporary issues in higher education. Participants also can identify, plan and implement a capstone project, either individually or in a group, that responds to an identified need of their department, the campus or the Indianapolis community.
Next Generation 2.0 was renewed in 2015 with the help of Dean Karen Bravo. Vice Dean Allison Martin and Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion Patricia Kinney, J.D. ’02, were part of the ninth cohort during the 2023-2024 academic year. Professor Carrie Hagan, director of the law school’s Civil Practice Clinic, was part of the eighth cohort during the 2022-2023 academic year. Lauren Peña, J.D. ’13, was named to the sixth cohort of the program during the 2020-2021 academic year. Professor Yvonne Dutton was in the third cohort of the program during the 2017-2018 academic year. Professor Shawn Boyne, who is currently the director of Academic Quality and Undergraduate Education at Iowa State University, was part of the first cohort during the 2015-2016 academic year.
