Professor Pitts Named Associate Dean for Faculty Research and Intellectual Life

Professor Mike Pitts has been appointed associate dean for faculty research and intellectual life. His new role begins August 1.
“This role reflects our school’s unwavering commitment to research excellence and is pivotal to the implementation of the research and teaching goals of our strategic plan,” said IU McKinney Dean Karen E. Bravo. “Mike brings a background of research excellence and strong leadership to the role. We thank him for embracing this crucial responsibility.”
The associate dean will direct faculty development, advance faculty scholarship, and cultivate an intellectually vibrant scholarly community. The associate dean is also responsible for implementing and advancing the vision, plan, and policies of the law school’s research and scholarship goals and strategies, including the scholarship of teaching and learning, as more particularly stated in McKinney Law’s Strategic Plan, which the McKinney Law faculty adopted in the 2022 spring semester.
In this new role, Associate Dean Pitts will provide leadership to advance the law school's scholarly mission and to support the professional development of faculty of all ranks.
