Nine Marion County Judicial Vacancy Applicants are IU McKinney Alumni

The Marion County Judicial Selection Committee is in the process of choosing two new superior court judges. Judge John Hanley, J.D. ’82, and Judge Mark Stoner, J.D. ’81, have announced they are stepping down from the bench effective December 31, 2024.
The IU McKinney alumni who are among the 28 applicants seeking to fill one of the two roles are:
- J. Derek Atwood, J.D. ‘16
- Magistrate Judge Pauline A. Beeson, J.D. ‘08
- Magistrate Judge Andrew J. Borland, J.D. ‘98
- Senior Judge Eleanor K. Finnell, J.D. ‘99
- Matthew A. Gerber, J.D. ‘00
- Kevin E. Green, J.D. ‘00
- Valerie L. Harvey, J.D. ‘03
- Jayson W. McGrath, J.D. ‘05
- Lun Pieper, J.D. ‘09
The committee is led by Indiana Supreme Court Justice Derek Molter. Interviews will take place October 28 and 29 and the committee will vote to select two separate panels of three nominees each to send to the governor for appointment.
