International Students Participate in Indianapolis American Inn of Court

IU McKinney’s international graduate students have had the opportunity to take part in the Indianapolis American Inn of Court.
Dean Andrew Klein, Professor Frank Sullivan, Jr., and Professor Fran Watson serve as Masters of the Inn. Professor Watson was instrumental in inviting Master of Laws and Doctor of Juridical Science students to the Inn meetings. The American Inns of Court is an association of lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals dedicated to the highest standards of professional excellence, civility, and service to the law. Toward these goals, the Inn seeks to bridge the gap between formal law school education and the practice by offering continuing legal education in the Common Law tradition.
“Most certainly, members of the Indianapolis American Inn of Court value the participation of the international students from IU McKinney,” Professor Watson said.
SJD candidate Alhadi Altower heard two cases discussed at the meeting he attended, and said he learned a lot from everyone’s perspectives.
“It is beautiful that the law group does such meetings to exchange experiences,” Alhadi said.
Each year, the Inn invites two members of the LL.M. class at IU McKinney to participate as student members. LLM students Viktoriia Serediuk-Buz and Aline Fagundes served as the Inn’s student members from 2015-2016.
Fagundes has been serving as a federal judge at the labor court in Brazil since 2005. Serediuk-Buz has been teaching Constitutional Law for undergraduate students and Media Law for LLM students at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Kharkiv, Ukraine. She also served as a Fulbright visiting exchange scholar at IU McKinney from 2013 to 2014.
