IU McKinney Master of Laws students Swati Pradeep and Aron Okubaldet attended the Amnesty International General Meeting and Human Rights Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The event took place March 10 through 12.
Pardeep and Okubaldet (in the photo at left) are among the students who revived the law school’s Amnesty International Law Student Chapter in January 2017. Okubaldet is the group’s president, and Pradeep serves as vice president.
The conference theme, “The Power of Us,” was conveyed throughout the event, Pradeep wrote in a report she filed after the event. “It was encouraging to see the immense dedication with which various communities and groups had come together to address and seek to solve human rights violations on a national and global scale. The students received student grant awards to fund their participation in the conference.
“We were extremely privileged to have been given this opportunity to attend and represent the McKinney School of Law at Amnesty International and we thank the law school for supporting us,” Pradeep said. (Pradeep is in the photo at right)
