Rindala Zgheib, an LL.M. student at IU McKinney, passed the national exams that are part of the eligibility requirements for service as a judge on Lebanon’s independent Supreme Judicial Council. Zgheib is completing her thesis for the International and Comparative Law track.
The next step for Zgheib is three years of study and internship at Lebanon’s Institute of Judicial Studies. Once that is completed, she will be eligible to serve as a judge in the country’s criminal court, civil court, commercial court or any other judicial body.
“Usually people do not pass this exam the first time but I worked so hard on myself and I studied days and nights for eight consecutive months. It is one of the hardest exams in Lebanon, but IU students are always ready to pass this kind of exam,” Zgheib said. She is one of 34 people out of the 1,000 who took the exams to pass.
