McKinney Law Students Attend AHLA Meeting

Four IU McKinney Law students attended the American Health Law Association (AHLA) Health Plan Law & Compliance Institute in Chicago May 9-10.
The AHLA program was designed specifically for in-house counsel, compliance officers at health plans, and their outside counsel and advisors to provide informative and practical education on a variety of issues and best practices.
The trip, funded by the Hall Center for Law and Health, allowed students (from left) Neema Patel, Megan Davis, Kennedy Bunch, and Thomas Abrams, to attend the meeting.
“The Conference was a great way to connect with other Health Law enthusiasts,” Davis said. “My favorite part was the collaborative nature of the conference. It was an opportunity to get an update on state and federal developments for particular areas of health law and then hear about what the health law experts predict will happen in the next year.”
Attending the AHLA Health Plan Law and Compliance Institute was energizing, Bunch said.
“A lot of times in law school it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it is easy to lose sight of why we are here in the first place. I found myself multiple times at the conference feeling motivated, grateful, and excited for a future in health law,” she said.
“The Hall Center for Law and Health is proud of our students for representing McKinney health law at the AHLA Conference, said Brittany Kelly, Hall Center associate director. “They took full advantage of the opportunity through both learning and networking. We look forward to providing more opportunities like this in the future.”
