SJD Candidate Mosun Oke, LL.M. '18, Hosts Webinar on IP Financing in Nigeria

Mosun Oke, LL.M. ’18, and an S.J.D. candidate at IU McKinney, organized and hosted a webinar titled "Tech Financing: Unlocking IP-Based Financing in Nigeria." The session gathered an esteemed lineup of speakers, featuring academics, entrepreneurs, consultants, and policymakers.
“In the course of the discussion, we probed into the fundraising obstacles confronting startups in Nigeria and provided an overview of the country's existing startup funding scenario,” Oke said. “A major focal point was the exploration of IP-based financing, and its potential to radically transform Nigeria's innovation landscape.”
Speakers underscored the critical role of intellectual property as a financing asset and emphasized the necessity of developing expertise in IP valuation. They also pinpointed the instrumental role that both governmental and private sector entities can perform in encouraging IP-based financing within Nigeria.
